LEARNING KOREAN - My journey in the learning process to learn a second language..
I will upload the resources I've used, not just those create by others, but those I've created to attempt to deepen my understanding.
Check out my blogs for more information.
Learning Korean 한국어
Changing the approach to your learning appears to be a priority for learning.
Vary routine and content focus.
Areas to Explore **to try
This was my second journal. Here I'm singing along with Rain - remembering, I'd only started learning Korean (Hangeul) three weeks prior), after first hearing his theme song for Diamond Lover...a month after I'd been exposed to the Korean language through K-Dramas!
Another attempt during my initial learning of the alphabet...checking my understanding of phonics. Something to critique later!
One Year On...
Not sure if my reading has improved?
Still no comprehension
I've recently commenced a beginners course in Brisbane on Saturdays and will create a page highlighting elements which I have utilised /and or I believe may assist others in learning the language at a faster pace than my 'hit and miss' approach.
Do you want to start to learn Korean too?
I've created a page with a focus on the more useful tools I've found along the way.
Remember, anything you find is useful as you are being exposed to the language and culture; however, to avoid the frustration I have gone through trying to learn a language in an area that doesn't have any courses or people to assist (at this time), I've decided to put together a SELECT section of resources I believe may help you cut out some of the frustration I've already gone through!

My IT skills aren't bad.
I've been learning computers since the first PC came out. Even learning DOS in high school.
My Software Programme knowlege is pretty extensive:
Which, on reflection, is no big deal really because, once you are familiar with navigating one program, others from the same company seem to have similar interfaces for their products.
For me, the challenge is now, not only developing a site, this site, to support my work, but to also continue to challenge myself.
Recording equipment for example.
The last time I was in a recording studio, they still had reel to reel - that should give you an idea of how long it's been since I've recorded.
I still have my Tascam 4 track portable (tape)...
So, I'd like to look at creating recordings - when I find out the best software to use, and I'd also like to start creating YouTube clips where I just have to record myself, in stead of having to create slideshows to support my work (they take so long!).

My Journey into the Realm of HTML
I'm actually lucky to be teaching, as children are more than happy to SHOW YOU how to do things...
and I must admit to feeling a little out of my depth sometimes with regards to technology these days
That or it's just that I can't be bothered?
The process of keeping a page, dedicated to my own learning journey should give me the incentive to keep going,
1/3
Be Very careful!
I did my research...checked...asked questions. The company was very helpful,...while I was a potential customer!
You are better to create your own site and just have it hosted, than use a site builder from companies such as the one I'm currently using - I got lazy after the first few pages of coding (serves me right lol).
Although most people don't have the time or knowledge to create their own. I'm going to have to learn more about Java etc., to enable it to function properly, it's not just simple page coding, which I have been successful with. All this will take a great deal of time, because of the learning process that will be involved.
I would not recommend this company, mainly for their tactics, and will write a blog with regards to comparisons, if I'm able to find a way to migrate my site - if not, it will have to stay with them until I create my own.
This particular company do not have a complaints department, should you have any issues (their advert stars a Home & Away actor).
Through my experience, I have come across others who had issues with the company and were equally as frustrated - they suggested, for them, the company used boarder line fraudulent tactics to get their business - there is no real support - once you pay up of course!
Perhaps this is the new age we are in? Perhaps most companies are similar with regards to monopolising your content?
Simply learning to create websites is not the only learning curve here.
Even researching doesn't guarantee you know what you are getting, and there appears to be no recourse.
Some will select the company simply because it's the only option - just be aware of the control they do have, and that you may not be able to move your site to another host..
This time round, I've decided to take my daughter with me, to learn together.
Our first session introduced us to initial consonants and a little bit of the cultural background. Pinyin Chart link here
Through the process of attempting to learn Mandarin, as well as Hangeul, I came to the conclusion that focusing on one language is better than spreading yourself too thin!
From my perspective, as a learner, I have placed Mandarin on the back burner and will focus on Hangeul.
It was a great way/experience to share with my teen; however, for the specific goal of learning a language,, not so great.
